IMSI administers two annual awards, the Lynn Reynolds Memorial Leadership Award and the newly formatted and named Golden Maple Leaf Award. The Lynn Reynolds International Leadership Award is for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in support of the international maple syrup industry and have been active in supporting the industry over the past five years. This award was initiated in 1999 to honour the memory of Lynn Reynolds who served the maple industry with great distinction for many years. IMSI’s Golden Maple Leaf Award is for individuals, institutions, firms or other groups who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the maple syrup industry in North America and Internationally.
The Lynn Reynolds Award and the Golden Maple Leaf Award were presented to the 2008 recipients in October at the Annual Meeting of the North American Maple Syrup Council and the International Maple Syrup Institute in Amherst, Massachusetts. David Marvin from Morrisville, Vermont was the recipient of the Lynn Reynolds Memorial Leadership Award.

The recipient of the Golden Maple Leaf Award was University of Vermont Proctor Maple Research and Cooperative Extension in Underhill, Vermont.
