President's Address 2021

Dear IMSI Members and Maple Industry Associates,

We’ve had quite the year with COVID-19 posing serious challenges.  And yet, in the face of adversity, our maple industry displayed resilience, perseverance and ingenuity and successfully adapted the way it operates and does business. Congratulations to all!

The IMSI adapted too. We kept up our industry forums going via Zoom meetings, continuing to share information and ideas among us. I have attached our 2020 Activities and Accomplishments Review for a detailed account.  This year, the dues will remain the same as last year due to low inflation in 2020. With the support of our members, old and new, we will continue to meet our obligations providing excellent support and information to all of you.

This year we have a renewed focus on marketing. We will implement a new initiative - a social media program with a paid professional firm to promote pure maple syrup and help our producers with information and media content related to nutrition, food and lifestyle, and sustainability. This will be a modest start requiring funding; however, it will build as we gain experience. We will continue to retain a professional lobbyist to monitor and assist IMSI in governmental actions affecting maple.  Your funds will also help retain a paid professional executive director devoted to the maple industry and IMSI members. In summary, your investment enables us to 1) promote and defend the Industry’s interests and economic viability in matters dealing with government, trade, and environmental issues, 2) continue to provide an active industry forum for advancing ideas and working constructively together across industry sectors and associations, 3) promote marketing, increasing the consumption of pure maple syrup.

Thank you for your membership investment.
